20.10.2011 - Yume event

Yume: A dream from Oulu to Japan

This was the title of the event of the last 20th of October in the University of Oulu. An event whose purpose was raise money for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami of Sendai, Japan.

It was a great event, and of course I recorded some videos xDD. We saw four diferents performances:

- First, a traditional japanese dance.

- Second, a japanese woman singing and playing the sanshin (traditional japanese instrument)

- Third, two girls played a song, with photos of Japan, after the disaster, in the background. It was the saddest part of the event.

- Fourth, and finally, the last part of the event. All the people stood up and started to sing a japanese song with all the staff. It was funny.

I have to say that, during the intermission, we could taste japanese food outside, and the delicious green tea xDD. The green tea was the best part of the event xDDD.

09.10.2011 - Lapland & Nordkapp trip (fifth day)

The last day of the trip. We left Inari at 10:00, but before leaving we took few pictures of the lake at morning. I have to say that we had about -2'5 degrees that morning.

After that, 500 km of road were waiting for us xDD. So we took the car and we drove towards Oulu. During the travel by car we were surprised for a band of reindeers, crossing the highway xDD. It could be dangerous but .... the reindeers are so so so cute xDDD

And that's all, we arrived Oulu at 18:00 and the journey ended. However, it was a really good trip.

08.10.2011 - Lapland & Nordkapp trip (fourth day)

We left Alta early, about 8:00 o'clock. The trip continued further north, towards Nordkapp. The path to Nordkapp is equally amazing and dangerous. The road has a lot of curves which meander through the fjords. It's amazing, but is inevitable to feel a bit fear, and think about the car skidding in the road and falling cliff down.


Finally, after 2 hours driving, we arrived to Nordkapp. The feeling of being in the end of the world is indescribable, you have to feel it for yourself. The landscape is amazing, but we had winds of 100 km/h xDD. Like a fucking hurricane xDD.

And of course, we recorded a video in Norkapp xDD.

We left Nordkapp at 11:00 o'clock. Our next destiny was Karasjok, a norwegian city close to the border line with Finland. We stopped there for take the lunch and change the driver of the car.

 

After that, we continued our trip towards Inari. We arrived Inari at 18:30, and we booked two cottages there, near the lake Inarijarvi.

In Inari we felt a true finnish experience. Because we stayed in the sauna, and we jumped to the lake directly after leaving the sauna. It is a weird feeling, but it was amazing. You have to prove it for yourself.

Finally, after the sauna and the dinner, we were surprised by the northern lights. It's an amazing sight. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of that...

As you can see, it was a day full of trip and new experiences xDD.

07.10.2011 - Lapland & Nordkapp trip (third day)

That morning we woke up early. Our destination was Enontekio, another finnish city of the north. We were driving for 3 or 4 hours, and when we arrived, we saw the first autumn snow!

We continued driving further north, and we entered in Norway. I have to say there's no border control for entering in Norway, at least if you're traveling on the road at north of Enontekio.

The landscape changes when you are in Norway, because in Finland the landscape is flat, and in Norway you can find a lot of mountains, hills, fjords, and so on.

We were driving a lot of hours, maybe 7 more. And finally we arrived to Alta. We wanted to arrive Nordkapp that day, but was impossible. So we decided to spend the night in a place nearby. We were just 70 km far from Norkapp...

06.10.2011 - Lapland & Nordkapp trip (second day)

At morning we went to Napapiiri, commonly known as "Santa Claus Park" xD. Just 8 km to north of Rovaniemi. Is a funny place surrounded by souvenirs shops. You can find funny and amazing things in the shops: reindeer hats, sami clothes, souvenirs of santa claus, and so on.

Of course one of the most interesting things in Napapiiri is the Artic Circle Line, which crosses the park.

And, saving the best for last, ¡¡we met Santa Claus!!

After the lunch, we went to the north, towards Ylläs. We booked a cheap and amazing cottage close to the lake.

And for finishing the day, we took a boat ride in the lake. It was raining but it didn't matter xDD.

05.10.2011 - Lapland & Nordkapp trip (first day)

We thought about going to Nordkapp in october, because after october is sure there will be a lot of snow in the roads, and that could be dangerous xD.

So we decided to rent some cars and just go to the north. Our itinerary was:
Rovaniemi - Ylläs - Enontekio - Alta - Nordkapp - Karasjok - Inari

So first day, we picked up the cars from the airport and we left Oulu at 14:00. We arrived to Rovaniemi at 18:00, and we booked rooms in our lovely place "Guesthouse Borealis" xD.

Unfortunately we arrived too late for going to Napapiiri, so we decided to take a walk in the city center.

Unfortunately I have to say that Lordi's Restaurant and the pub "Irish Times" are closed now because of the economic crisis. One minute of silence for those amazing places...

01.10.2011 - Zombie Walk in Oulu

It was a long time ago, but I hadn't time to update the blog.

We took some old clothes from the recycling room, and, with Monica in charge of the special effects, we finally got our handmade zombie costumes. The final result was really cool.

And we recorded a video in the Oulu city center, with all the other zombies!
