Last weekend we decided to go to Kuusamo, because of the Nordic Opening. If anybody doesn't know what is that, the Nordic Opening is a competition of Sky jumping, sky running, and so on xD.
Our first trip stop was Rovaniemi (yeah, once again xD). We were walking for the city center for a while, before going to Santa Park Village (Napapiiri).
After that, we went to Napapiiri. This time was different, because the night came at 15:00, and in all the village had christmas lights.
After Rovaniemi, about 250 km of road were waiting for us xDD. So we picked up the car and we went to .... our cottage, in the middle of nowhere but only 20 km far from Ruka (the place where the Nordic Opening was happening) xDDD.
When we arrived, we made a barbecue and, finally, it snowed!! (in the next updating, photos of the frozen lake xDD)

21.11.2011 - The first snowman
Now the temperatues in Oulu are over 0 degrees again. But there was a time when we had temperatures under 0 degrees xDD. For example, last monday. It was snowing, and we made the first snowman in Oulu (well, actually I came when the snowman was almost ready xDD).
If someone is wondering why I wore short jeans....it's because I was coming back from the gym that morning xDD.
PD: We have called the snowman Manolainen xDD

19.11.2011 - Ranua Zoo
Last Saturday we decided to go to Ranua Zoo. This place is about 3 km far from the city of Ranua, a small village in the north of Oulu, about 170 km far.
Why did we decide to go this Saturday? it's simple, it was snowing the day before, and Ranua was absolutely covered with snow. A feast for the eyes xD.
The entrance ticket cost 11'50 for students, but it worth, as you will see in the following pictures.
And a short video about reindeers xDDD.

18.11.2011 - First Snow in Oulu
Finally, after one month waiting, the snow has come to Oulu. All the finnish guys I have met told me that in Oulu the snow is used to start at the end of October. So this year the snow has been delayed, maybe because I'm here xDDD. But finally the snow has come. Hallelujah!!

05.11.2011 - All Saints Day
A catholic explanation about that day:
ALL SAINTS DAY
Solemnity celebrated on the first of November. It is instituted to honour all the saints, known and unknown, and, according to Urban IV, to supply any deficiencies in the faithful's celebration of saints' feasts during the year.
In the early days the Christians were accustomed to solemnize the anniversary of a martyr's death for Christ at the place of martyrdom. In the fourth century, neighbouring dioceses began to interchange feasts, to transfer relics, to divide them, and to join in a common feast; as is shown by the invitation of St. Basil of Caesareabishops of the province of Pontus. Frequently groups of martyrs suffered on the same day, which naturally led to a joint commemoration. In the persecution of Diocletian the number of martyrs became so great that a separate day could not be assigned to each. But the Church, feeling that every martyr should be venerated, appointed a common day for all. The first trace of this we find in Antioch on the Sunday after Pentecost. We also find mention of a common day in a sermon of St. Ephrem the Syrian (373), and in the 74th homily of St. John Chrysostom (407). At first only martyrs and St. John the Baptist were honoured by a special day. Other saints were added gradually, and increased in number when a regular process of canonization was established; still, as early as 411 there is in the Chaldean Calendar a "Commemoratio Confessorum" for the Friday after Easter. In the West Boniface IV, 13 May, 609, or 610, consecrated the Pantheon in Rome to the Blessed Virgin and all the martyrs, ordering an anniversary. Gregory III (731-741) consecrated a chapel in the Basilica of St. Peter to all the saints and fixed the anniversary for 1 November. A basilica of the Apostles already existed in Rome, and its dedication was annually remembered on 1 May. Gregory IV (827-844) extended the celebration on 1 November to the entire Church. The vigil seems to have been held as early as the feast itself. The octave was added by Sixtus IV (1471-84).
This time was my first celebration of this day, because this doesn't exist in Spain. So we went to the cementery for seeing all the candles and pray for the deceased.
